CHRISTMAS AT HOGWARTS
He who CAN be named, A – the unconquered, finished reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of
Azkaban and put it down on the small table next to his bed. It has been an exciting read and he
had lived every bit of the story with Harry. He was tired and so were his eyes but he had
already started to think about the fourth book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. As he
removed his glasses and rubbed his eyes brimming with sleep, he thought what will V, he who
CANNOT be named, do now? He has been wearing a pair of blank spectacles for some time to
get into the Harry Potter character fully!! It was well past his sleep time. Mummy and Papa
had tried to make him sleep but had failed. He could not stop as he was reading the most
interesting part of the book. Toying with his fake spectacles, he looked out of the window. It
was a moonlit night, made brighter by the clear sky, a rarity at that time of the year. It was
very cold outside. Gusts of chilly winds made it harder for people to go out of their somewhat
warm houses. The town was cold, and silent. Christmas was approaching and everybody said
that it will be a COLD Christmas.
A started to wonder what Santa will get for him this time. What was his WISH anyway?
Another Lego set? Another toy? A flying broomstick? Suddenly he felt as if he was sitting at
Hogwarts, looking out of the window. And a wish was formed. He had heard that if you wish
hard enough, whatever you wish for is supposed to come true. So, he shut his eyes tight and
WISHED HARD!! The WISH went out through the window and flew past the neighborhood
houses, winked at Motherâs School, circled the Qutub Minar, and moved over the flyovers
across the fields, and continued in the North-Westerly direction. It flew over Lahore, up and
down the mountains, skirting Afghanistan, Turkey and several other places. It finally reached
Hogwarts where it landed on Albus Dumbledoreâs beard. Although from his beard to his ear it
was just a short hop, it did not reach there because it got stuck in the knotty hair. Dumbledore
had not shampooed and combed his beard for quite some time. The WISH struggled hard but
could not extricate itself. Just when it was getting tired, Dumbledore combed and caressed his
beard with his fingers and the WISH managed to latch on to one of the fingers and from there
jumped to his right ear.
Dumbledore heard the WISH and smiled.
Next day in the night, he who CAN be named was sitting on the potty! Donât ask me
what he was doing there!! But he was looking here and there, humming a song. You
will have to ask him which song as I could not figure out that as well!! While he was
engrossed in his thoughts and song, he heard a tapping noise. He thought it was the
strong wind that was creating this noise and ignored it. But he heard it again,
somewhat stronger, and felt that it was coming from his left-hand side. He turned
around and shrieked loudly with delight! Mummy, who was outside in the kitchen,
heard the shriek and panicked. She, of course, did not know the difference between
a delight shriek and a fright shriek!! So, she came rushing into the bathroom as the
door was not locked and asked:
âWhat happened? Are you hurt?â
A just smiled and pointed at the window. She looked up and almost shrieked herself, in
fright and surprise:
âHeyyyy Maaaaa, ye to ulloo hai! Itâs an owlâ!
âItâs not just an owl, its Hedwig. I mean she is Hedwigâ, A retorted.
âHedwig who? How do you know its name?â Mummy sort of shrieked again, this time
in astonishment!!
âMaa, itâs Harryâs owl, Hedwig, canât you see?â Aâs excitement was palpable.
âHarry who? Donât talk in riddles! Besides, I still do not know how to recognize faces of
owls and you know itâs a she?!!â Mumâs voice was still shrill.
âHarry Potter Maa!!â A smiled broadly. And Hedwig is a SHE, you know.â âLetâs get her
in first. She must be freezing outsideâ. âBut, oops!! I need to finish my task as well!â
A quickly did the needful and looked expectantly as Mummy opened the bathroom
window. Hedwig came in quietly and sat on the flush tank. One could see a letter
tied to her left leg. A was about to untie the letter when Mummy said:
âYou wish to do everything in here! Let us get out of the bathroom first!â
A saw logic in that statement of Mummy. For sure, such important letters should not
be read inside the loo!! So, curbing his excitement and somewhat reluctantly he
walked out of the bathroom, followed by Mummy and of course, Hedwig, fluttering
her wings casually. Hedwig behaved as if she was completely at home and
comfortably sat on top of the fish tank. Mummy was wondering if Hedwig can be
given something to eat. âBut where will she get rodents, squirrels or lemmings from?â
she mused. Oblivious of Mumâs âmotherlyâ thoughts which he could guess given her
experience with peacocks whom she fed regularly, A focused on his main task. He
gently untied the string from Hedwigâs leg and took the letter out of the envelope. As
he read the letter, his smile kept broadening till it reached âsmile dimensionsâ beyond
his ears. That is, it was much more than the one that spreads from âear to earâ! And
why not? HIS WISH WAS GRANTED! He read the letter again and again and again, and
Mummy stood there gazing at his bright face, eyes sparkling with excitement and a
really wide smile that accentuated the charm of the gaping hole between his two
front teeth! Yes, he had lost them recently.
âWhat is it Bhai Sahab?â She asked.
A was too excited to speak so he simply handed over the letter to her. And she read:

Church of Sepulchre, Jerusalem, December 17, 2018
While Mummy was busy reading the letter A quickly went inside the small
room where his school material was kept, tore off a page from a rough
notebook and wrote:
December 15, 2016
To: Mr Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster, Hogwarts
Through: Rubeus Hagrid
Owl post: Courtesy Hedwig
Dear Mr Dumbledore,
Greetings from India!
Thanks very much for the invitation to visit Hogwarts
and celebrate Christmas with all of you. I am more than
delighted.
YES SIR, I WILL CERTAINLY BE THERE!!
I look forward to meeting all my favourite Potterites!!
Yipeeeeee!!! Hurrrrrraaayyyyyyyyyy!!
Yours sincerely,
A (Who can be named!!)
PS: Please let me know if there is a dress-code for the party. If
I do not hear from you, I
plan to wear my Halloween costume with a cape that my Mom
had made. Will look like a
wizard! I will also bring the mask that a friend of mine wore
on Halloween day when he
visited the US recently. I am sure I will be able to scare
some visitors and entertain
wizards!! I do not have a magic wand. Wanted to bring an Indian
sword but that may not be
advisable. There must be some restrictions on what visitors
can carry on Hogwarts Express!!
He quickly folded the paper, hunted around for an envelope but did not find
any. Put his letter in the same envelope in which the invitation had come and
started to tie it to Hedwigâs leg. Search for a fresh envelope would have taken
more time. He did not want to delay anymore and wanted Dumbledore to get
his acceptance letter before he changes his mind. He was struggling with the knots when Mum looked up from the letter which she had also read many times; not because of excitement but because there were several things in the
letter which she did not quite understand! She was about to ask A for
explanations but realized that this was not the right time and her curiosity will
have to wait. What did you write?
Church of Nativity, Betelehem, December 17, 2018
âMaa, I want to send it quicklyâ was Aâs response.
âCan I see it PLEASE?â Mummy was not in a mood to give up the chance of
being part of this exciting event.
Reluctantly, A handed over the letter to her. She read it quickly and smiled and
this time it spread from ear to ear. One could see that unlike A there was no
gap between her teeth. Besides, also unlike A, she had just finished brushing
her teeth. So even Hedwig was impressed by her smile! She rushed to Aâs room
and took out a fresh envelope. Like all Moms, she knew what is kept where!
(Well, almost, more or less!! ď) She used the string to tie the letter to
Hedwigâs leg and went towards the bathroom to open the window. As she
turned around to see if Hedwig was following her, she found the snow owl
sitting on Aâs shoulder with A proudly caressing her!
As Hedwig flew out of the window into the moon-lit night, Mummy and A kept
standing there till they could not see Hedwig anymore. As the bird vanished
into the night, the two looked at the bright moon. They felt that the moon
winked and smiled at them and then jumped a bit with joy, as if it was on a
spring!!
At 11.30 pm the Flying Car landed next to Aâs house. It could only be seen by A
and his family. After a lot of drama, A had managed to persuade his parents
and sister (Elder A, alias Stanza) to be part of this adventure. They did not have
a visa to go to UK. Since the travel instructions, did not mention visa, A was
pretty sure that they did not need one! After all it was an invitation from
Dumbledore himself. The Elder A, looked at the car in amazement but
somewhat suspiciously. She did not share the unconquered Aâs enthusiasm for
Harry Potter! (We will henceforth call her AN to avoid confusion). Mummy,
Papa, AN, and A got into the car and were immediately covered by the magical
warm blanket and soon they were asleep. When they woke up, they were in
front of the Kings Cross station. It was 3 pm and A was standing between
platforms 9 and 10 with a small bag that carried his party clothes, night clothes
and a book to read on the train. No guesses on the name of the book. Of
course, it was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire! Papa had issued it for him
from the library. Apart from a brush and toothpaste, the bag also contained a
piece of soap!
Mum insisted that A carry it with him. âWho knows if the wizards believe in the
use of soapâ, she insisted. For her hygiene was as magical as anything else and her
instructions about washing hands several times were still ringing in Aâs
head!
Initially, A was brimming with confidence as he stood at the platform. Once in
a while he touched his front pocket to check if the invitation letter was safe
inside. That was his most prized possession at the moment! Mummy and Papa,
however, were still not convinced about this adventure. Both of them had
come to London to see off A, but were not sure what to expect. After all, A was
travelling alone for the first time and to an unknown land – Hogwarts. They
stared at the wall from time to time with disbelief and amazement. AN was
also in a similar situation. She did not believe she was standing at the famous
Kings Cross station in London! A was keen to get on with his journey and go to
his platform but Mummy and Papa did not want him to break his head while
walking into the wall. They had not seen anybody go in as yet!
But soon it was 3.15 pm and A was getting restive and nervous. He had a habit
of chewing his nails and he did more of that when he was nervous. As his right
hand started to move towards his mouth, he told himself:
âControl, control or there will no nails left on your fingersâ!!
Just when he was struggling with his thoughts âto chew or not to chewâ, losing
his patience, and Mummy-Papa were planning to abandon the adventure and
go back home, a kid with long hair and horn-rimmed glasses casually walked
past them and went straight into the wall! A was thrilled and looked at his
parents and at his sister. It was not very clear if their faces showed signs of
relief, bewilderment or confusion. He had no time to analyse their expressions.
He quickly ran towards them and hugged them one by one!
âTime for me to go! And yes, Mumma, I did not chew my nails!â he said
proudly.
Before Mummy, Papa and AN could say anything, A picked up his bag and
vanished into the wall! Mum, Pa and AN stood there for some time with wide
eyes and mouths open. They then slowly trudged towards the flying car
outside which will take them to Diagon Alley.
As A emerged out of the wall, he found several people on Platform 9 ž. Most
of them seem to have come early. The crowd was not large and he found a
place to sit in one of the compartments. He chose a window seat. The trip to
Hogwarts was uneventful. The scenery outside changed dramatically from time
to time. All passengers were busy with their own thoughts and hardly any
conversation was happening. There were no vendors either as nobody had
Gringotts currency or wizard money – silver Sickles, gold Galleon, or
bronze Knuts! For some time, A thought about all the trips that Harry and his
friends had made on the Hogwarts Express. Then he started to read Harry
Potter and the Goblet of Fire! He was stuck with the book throughout the
journey except for a short break when he ate his sandwich. That was also not
really a break from reading as he continued to read while having his sandwich
or munching nuts or chips! While he ate and read, he thought about what
Mum and Pa would have said if he did the same at home. He just smiled and
brushed the thought away. As the train reached Hogwarts station, he had
already read more than one-thirds of the book!
The train slowed down and eventually stopped with a jerk. A put his book into
the bag along with the leftover chips and nuts. Suddenly he remembered
Mumâs instructions and took out the soap and used it to wash his hands in the
train itself. When he got out of the compartment, most people had already
alighted and he could see a giant standing at the other end of the platform,
waiving happily to everybody. It took A sometime to figure out that he was
staring at Rubeus Hagrid who had come to receive them!! A walked towards
Hagrid, trying to remember if his height was 11 feet or 9 feet. By the time he
came close to him, he realized that he did not even reach up to Hagridâs knee!
He looked up as he heard the booming voice âWELCOME TO HOGWARTSâ and
found the big warm and fuzzy face of Hagrid smiling broadly at him. Suddenly
he heard something that made his heart race:
âHeyyy, you can look like Harry Potter Jr! Need to change your glasses though!!
Ho, ho ho!â
Hagrid almost sounded like Santa and as A looked up again on hearing this, the
friendly giant winked at him! A wanted to ask if he can visit Hagridâs cabin, but
could not muster enough courage to do so. He just smiled with a twinkle in his
eyes and walked past along with the others on the train. His chest pumped up,
he was feeling quite special already!
They all got into a flying bus and reached Hogwarts in a jiffy! It was already
dark and as they entered the big hall, A could see a well decorated and huge
Christmas tree in the middle of the hall, going through the high roof. Lights
floating in the air, Christmas carols were being sung by unseen people and
wafts of other music were also flowing in. All of a sudden it started to rain in
the hall. Except that there were no rain drops â colourful petals of different
flowers greeted all the guests. Hagridâs voice echoed in the hall:
âHi Folks! Welcome to Hogwarts again! You must be quite tired from the
journey and hungry. There are some snakes, I mean snacks, for you on
the tables on the far side. Please help yourselves and then you will be
taken to your rooms. You have these friendly elves around you who will
be at your service. I will see you guys tomorrow! Tomorrow is full of
exciting activities so sleep well. GOOD NIGHT!â
A was a bit disappointed as he expected to be a part of Christmas eve party
and meet all his favourite characters! But the expectation of exciting things
that will happen tomorrow kept him in good spirits. He looked at the tables
and found that it was all Muggle food! As he was picking a few things to eat
and his favourite juice, he remembered something and looked at all the elves
closely. And sure enough, the kind hearted and loyal, Dobby the house elf was
standing there proudly, surveying the guests milling around! A remembered
that Dobby was indebted to Harry for his freedom and wanted to go and talk
to the elf. But feeling shy he focused his attention on his food. The journey
and excitement had also made him very tired. As he nibbled at his food, he
thought if Mummy or Papa were there, he would have been âspoon-fedâ!! ď
That thought made him focus more on his food and he managed to finish most
of the food. Soon, they were in their rooms, accompanied by very cordial elves.
He did not see Dobby again. In no time, everybody was in their night clothes,
had brushed their teeth and was in bed. A was among the few who had
washed their hands and faces with soap as well! In the bathroom, if one said
soap, a soap bottle appeared and had the fragrance of your choice! All guests
were fast asleep very soon, with no fear of dementors etc. Their dreams were
to come true tomorrow!
When A got up next morning, the sun was peeping through the window. He
was about to call for Mummy but suddenly realized that he was not in his
bedroom; did not have Mummy to cuddle up to or Papa to get him ready! But
it was Christmas day, he was at Hogwarts and probably the most exciting day
of his life had just begun! He was still a bit sleepy but did not wish to miss out
on anything. So got up, went to the loo and started to brush his teeth. While
he was focusing on the lower molars, few owls flew in and dropped pieces of
paper on all the beds in his dorm. He quickly finished brushing, ran to his bed
and picked up the paper. It was the programme of Christmas day festivities.

A was thrilled to see the programme although he was not really sure what the
sorting ceremony would entail. Would he be wearing a Sorting Hat?! In a jiffy
he wore his Halloween costume except the cape and the scary mask, which
were put in a small shoulder bag that he was carrying. He planned to use them
in the evening at dinner time. The breakfast was done in no time as well. As he
walked to the Hogwarts grounds with others to start the exciting day, he thought that he can surprise Mummy and Papa by finishing his meals quickly when he gets back. Now he knew he can!! ďď
The day went by like a blur. The time flew by and before anybody knew they
were all assembled in the Great Hall for dinner. While trying to put his cape on,
A tried to recollect the happenings of the day. Shrieking Shack was scary. He
really liked butter-beer but could not recall what he had for lunch. Choosing
the dessert was very difficult; Chocolate Frogs, Fudge Flies, Ice Mice, Exploding
Bonbons etc. all sounded interesting. He finally opted for Fizzing Whizbees and
as he sucked on the magical sweet, he floated a few inches off the ground for a
while. That was funny and bizarre while it lasted! The broom flying lessons
were funny too as he was not able to get off the ground howsoever hard, he
tried. Finally, Madam Hooch the teacher shouted: âForget everything and just
IMAGINE that you are flying!â As soon as he did that A was up in the air astride
the broom! But soon enough he came down with a thud. It was great fun while
it lasted! The Quidditch match was sort of friendly as it was played between
Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. Harry did a great job as a seeker astride his Nimbus
2000 and eventually got the Golden Snitch to win the match for Gryffindor.
Ron Weasley was a great keeper as usual! The Slytherins were booing both the
teams, especially Gryffindor, as they wanted to play the exhibition match but
were not chosen. Hogwarts castle seemed like a maze and somewhat scary as
staircases started to fold and move. A really liked the Fat Lady at the entrance
of the Gryffindor tower! As they waited for the proceedings to begin, A noticed
several known faces trooping into the Great Hall which looked magical in every
respect.
Nymphadora Tonks, a Metamorphmagus entered in a punkish costume. Her
hair colour was constantly changing into dramatic colours – from pink to purple
and so on. Sybill Trelawney and Minerva McGonagall walked in together.
Sybill, the Professor of Divination looked strange in her thick glasses and gaudy
dress. She was talking in a hushed tone which nobody else could hear.
Professor McGonagall, the Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts was very
endearing and smiled broadly as she greeted the guests. In fact, she looked
like a kind and cool aunt! As expected, Gilderoy Lockhart walked in with
exaggerated swagger. He was impeccably dressed and was full of self-
importance, trying to charm all the guests. A immediately recognized Molly Weasley as she walked in with Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody who could be
recognized anywhere. He thought of Mummy as he smiled back at Molly, the
loving, giving mother with a pot full of magic. A felt the warmth that Harry
would have felt; after all, she was effectively his mother. Moody, as expected
had a grizzly appearance with scars on his face, a magical eye which was
rotating all the time and a wooden leg. Despite his appearance and
eccentricities, he seemed nice somehow!
Lucius and Draco Malfoy, father and son, walked in together. They walked like
aristocrats but seemed pompous and prejudiced. As they passed by, A
managed to hear snatches of their conversation. The young one was saying
with disdain: âI donât understand why Dumbledore has invited so many
Muggles for the Christmas party!?â He could not hear the fatherâs response.
Aâs face darkened a bit but brightened immediately as Remus Lupin walked in
with Sirius Black. Out of nowhere Harry appeared and hugged both of them
warmly. Lupin did not look like a werewolf at all.
Ginny Weasley, looked lovely as she walked in with her brothers, Ron, Fred &
George. As A remembered the pranks, gags and gaffes of April Foolâs Day
twins, Fred and George, his eyes searched for Hemione Granger and Harry
Potter who seemed to have vanished into thin air after appearing briefly for
the âhugging episodeâ! A mused what will happen if his brothers throw a spider
on Ron now! Eventually Hermione walked in with Luna Lovegood and Neville
Longbottom. Despite his shyness, Neville was lovable. Hermione looked the
personality that she was â bright, logical, upright, and good. Nobody could
realize by looking at her face that she could break rules to do good for people
around. "Looney" Lovegood was sort of lost in her own thoughts but inspired a
good feeling.
A like many others in the group was lost in his thoughts when a booming voice
brought the house to order:
âWelcome to Hogwartsâs Christmas festivities! I hope that all our guests
have had an enjoyable day. We are now at the last leg of the
programme. Our guests will be assigned tables where they will sit for the rest of the evening. Each one of the guests would come and sit on the
stool over there and participate in the sorting ceremony. You all know
the procedure; sorting is done by the sorting hat. The guest would sit on
the table of that House which has been assigned to her or him! I would
request our guests to come one by one and sit on the stool.â
Aâs heart was in his mouth. He looked towards the centre of the hall and found
that Severus Snape, Albus Dumbledore and many other professors were
already on the stage. The announcement was being made by Hagrid. Out of
nowhere, a frayed hat floated in and hung above the stool. It sang a short song
about the founding of the Hogwarts School and the four Houses. While the
song was complicated it essentially stated that Hogwarts is divided into four
houses, each bearing the last name of its founder: Godric Gryffindor, Helga
Hufflepuff, Rowena, Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin. In the early days of
Hogwarts, the four founders handpicked students for their Houses. But the
founders worried how students would be selected after their death. To take
care of this worry, Gryffindor took his hat off and each founder "put some
brains" in it, allowing the Sorting Hat to choose students. Now, when the
magical Sorting Hat is placed on student's head, the Sorting Hat announces the
house the student is to join. A knew that the Sorting Hat hears your thoughts
and assigns the House. But at times, one can argue with the hat as well and
convince it to assign a specific house to you. He, of course, wanted Gryffindor
but how to ensure that he gets it. Several ideas flooded his mind as guests
went to the stool one by one and their houses were announced:
âGryffindor!â
âRavenclaw!â
âRavenclaw again!!â
âHufflepuff, no, no.. Slytherin!â
And so on. As the house was announced, the guests went and sat on that
House table. Before he knew it, Aâs turn came. He walked slowly towards the
stool and sat on it. He could feel his pulse racing and his heart pounding as the
Hat gingerly settled on his head and started to talk to him:
An artist recreation of a traditional tribal house. Tribal Museum Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. February 26, 2019
âGryffindor! No, No, No! Slytherin!â Yes, Slytherin!â
But A strongly retorted: âNo, Gryffindor!â
This âdialogueâ between the Hat and A went on for some time, while others
waited for the final verdict. The Hat whispered to A: âAnother Potter eh?!â
âGryffindor, it is!â The Hat said aloud and A jumped with joy and ran towards
the Gryffindor table. He was greeted loudly by all of them and was given a seat
next to Harry! ď Fred and George welcomed him in unison and offered him a
candy each. A, knowing their pranks hesitated till Harry said: âTake them, they
are harmless!â And as he took them into his mouth and chewed them, every
chew generated a new flavour â orange, strawberry, mango, gooseberryâŚand
so on. Some of the flavours were absolutely new for him but great. A was on
top of the world sharing the table with the Weaslyâs, Hermione, Neville and of
course HARRY!! As he sat there enjoying their company, several things crossed
his mind. One of them was: âIf I can be so resolute with the Sorting Hat, I might
as well resolve not to chew my nails and abide by it, RIGHT!! I can do itâ!
Soon everybody was âsortedâ and had a seat on one table or the other. Hagrid
got up again and said:
âLet the dinner be served!!â
As soon as this was announced, the Great Hall experienced a burst of activity.
With charming music in the background, dishes filled with food started to fly in
and elegantly landed on different tables. Forks, spoons and knives âstood upâ as
if saying âpick us up and start eating!â In all this commotion, Harry from his
side and Hermione from the other side of the table shouted: âHey A, Bon
Appetit! Enjoy your meal. Today and always!!â A looked around and found so
many types of food. It was difficult to keep track. But he could try, not in any
order: Yorkshire Pudding, Pumpkin juice, roast chicken, shepherd&’s pie, jacket
mint humbugs, Bouillabaisse, Christmas pudding, eggnogg, crumpets, trifle,
Christmas cake etc. etc.
After the main dinner was over, there were baskets floating around with
mouth-watering goodies like, Bertie Bott&’s Every Flavour Beans, Drooble&’s
BestBlowing Gum, chocolate frogs, pumpkin pasties, cauldron cakes, Liquorice
Wands, Pepper Imps, chocolate balls full of strawberry mousse and clotted
cream, Sugar Quills, tooth flossing string mints, Jelly Slugs, nougat, coconut ice,
toffees, Fizzing Whizbees, ice mice, peppermint toads, blood flavoured
lollipops, Cockroach Cluster, fudge flies, Acid Pops, sherbet balls, pumpkin tart
and ice creams and sundaes of various flavours. After so many sweets, what
one needs is something to drink. So, bottles of different drinks came floating
with straws in them. These included: Butterbeer, Red Currant Rum, Gillywater,
cherry syrup and soda with ice and umbrella and mulled mead. Fortunately, no
magical animals were served!
A was in a daze with all this food and drink floating around. He ate and drank
randomly. The excitement had apparently improved his appetite. The noise
and music were also a bit intoxicating. He was feeling a bit dizzy, may be due
to the two butter-beers he had consumed! ď He felt as if he would drop off to
sleep when suddenly all the noise and music stopped and there was pin-drop
silence. He looked up to find that Dumbledore had stood up to give his speech.
His flowing beard and kind demeanour captivated everybody.
âGood evening, everybody! Itâs a pleasure to have all the guests with us
today. I hope you all had an enjoyable time. We wanted to share our
magic with you. Our world of magic is your world of magic as well. All of
us can have magic in our lives. We just need to have motivation along
with imagination.
If you can open your mind and give it wings; if you are not scared to
think of the impossible; there can be magic in your life.
If you can imagine, a simple stick can become a magic wand!
If you can imagine, a small hard ball can become a golden snitch!
If you can imagine, every broom can become a flying broomstick!
If you can imagine, a block of wood can become a racing car!
If you can imagine, a leaf can become a helicopter!
If you can imagine, two bricks can become a castle!
So, keep your mind open to new ideas. Never be scared to imagine the
impossible. And I am sure your life would be as magical as anybodyâs life
at Hogwarts. This magic will give you joy and warmth. It will also keep all
the dementors away.
Always remember, MAGIC is inside you!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS! And best wishes for a happy, healthy and magical new year!!
Good night!!â
Everybody got up and clapped and cheered! Colourful balloons and fire-
crackers without any smoke brightened the hall. Owls flew in and dropped gifts
for all the guests. On the gift packets it was written in big bold letters:
PLEASE OPEN ONLY WHEN YOU REACH HOME!!
As the guests started to retire to their rooms, A also reluctantly started to
move towards the main door. Just then Ron said:
âHeyyy! How can you go without a hug?â
So, A got a tight hug from all the people on the Gryffindor table. The last one
was from Harry and he walked with him till the door and said: âsee you soon
buddy!â
A emerged out of the wall and found Mummy, Papa and AN waiting. They had
one look at him and knew that he had a swell time. He came running and
hugged them.
âSee I got a Christmas gift but can open it only at home!â
During the journey from London to home in the flying car, A told his parents a
lot of stories. This time they were not asleep. All through this narration, a few
sentences kept cropping up:
âI can imagine!â
âThe magic is inside me!â
âMummy, I did not chew my nails even once during the trip and also ate very
well!â
AN also had her own stories of Daigon Alley. How she wished she had âeight
more eyesâ to absorb the Allyâs atmosphere. Besides, the experience of her first
trip to a pub â Leaky Cauldron â was still fresh in her mind. But she realized she
will have to wait for her turn! By the time they reached home, it was dark. A
needed to use the potty! He ran up as Papa was using the downstairs loo. As he
entered, he found the potty room magical. After that magical experience when
he came out, he saw the gift packet on the bed where Mummy had kept it. He
quickly opened the packet and found a story book!

Moon Spring
As he opened the book, he noticed the moon outside the bedroom window. The
moon was on a spring today as well. And yes, it winked too!!
